Class of 1966 57th Reunion

May 26-27, 2023

Maybe there has been a Reunions with better weather, but it's hard to imagine. Cool overnight all weekend, low to mid 70's during the day, not a hint of rain. After the terrible weather last year (deluge and lightning Friday evening, 93 degrees Saturday), this was a welcome change. Frank Nuessle and Jon Holman tried to take credit for the wonderful weather but most of us believe there were other forces at work.

Friday evening we had a pizza party at the 55th site, right by 1879 Hall like last year. 10-15 classmates and wives and partners showed up, a nice low key affair with an open bar courtesy of '68. No untoward behavior was observed other than perhaps a touch of gluttony.

Jay Lagemann was there all afternoon with his magnificent tigers, as always a center of attention and photographs and an opportunity for Jay to talk with students.

Saturday morning at 11:00 many of us convened at Morrison Hall (the former West College) for the 20th anniversary celebration of the Princeton Prize in Race Relations. Praise was appropriately heaped on Henry Von Kohorn, the principal founder of PPRR, and much thanks was given to '66 for all the human and financial support over the years.

As for the P-rade, it was awesome. We were led by a drum and bagpipe band, the same one we used at our 50th, followed by our banner and Jay and Stu Steingold pulling the tigers. It's hard to overestimate how popular the tigers are at this point; Jay got several Locomotives along the route. Because the weather was so nice, most of us made it down to Poe Field.

The final event was dinner at Terhune Orchards, hosted once again by the incomparable Gary and Pam Mount. This included a performance by the Tigerlilies and a surprise 78th birthday party for Jon Holman, including the world's largest cake and a rendition of Happy Birthday by the Lils. Rick Bowers and several other '66ers were the perpetrators.

We must also give a shout-out to Mike Witte. He designed the cover of the Reunions Guide (below), had designed the logo for our hosts '68 back in the day, and he just finished designing the logo for our Hilton Head event in October. Mike truly is the gift that keeps on giving.

Photos

Photos and some narration. This time, the photos are grouped by photographer, rather than event. Not all photographers are created equal, but we erred on the side of coverage.
