TAJUDEEN KASIM

Our classmate Tajudeen Kasim died following surgery in 1982 in Lagos, Nigeria. At the
time of his death he was a professor of electrical engineering at the University of Lagos.

’Biodun, as he was known to friends, was born Christmas Day 1943 in Ijebu-Ode,
Nigeria, and attended the Ijebu-Muslim College, where he played soccer and table tennis
and captained the tennis team. He was sent to Princeton as the most brilliant student from
the Muslim College.

At Princeton he majored in electrical engineering. In his senior year he roomed with
Chuks Chikwendu in 164 Little Hall. ’Biodun was active in interclub sports for Campus
Club, joined the Pan-American Students Organization, and worked on the Trenton
Tuttorial Project.

’Biodun earned a master’s degree in the U.S. before returning to Nigeria in the early
1970s. He worked briefly at an oil refinery in Port Harcourt before joining the faculty at
the University of Lagos. In 1976 he earned his Ph.D. at the University of Southampton
(U.K.).

To his wife, ’Dupe, three daughters, and son, the Class extends its deepest sympathies.
