NICHOLAS BACHKO, Jr. (1944-1967)
It is with deep regret that we record the sudden death of Nicholas Bachko on February
5, 1967 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Nick graduated from Port Washington High School in New York, where he received
the American Legion History Award. He received the highest score on the New York
State Regents’ Exam and was a National Merit Scholarship finalist and a member of the
National Honor Society.
Nick came to Princeton as a University Scholar. Although he concentrated in astrophysics,
his wide interest in Literature and the arts remained a constant source of enjoyment
to him as well as to those of us who knew him. His friends and roommates will long
remember his friendliness and loyalty. We will miss his wit and his accepting ^predation
of all of life.
After graduation from Princeton, Nick began graduate work in astrophysics at the
University of New Mexico. While returning to Albuquerque from the wedding of a friend,
he was caught in a sudden blizzard and was fatally injured when he was struck by an
oncoming car.
To his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Bachko of Port Washington, New
York, and to his sister Laura, we extend our deepest sympathy. (PAW, June 4, 1968)
